Emergency Expo draws crowd, raises safety awareness An Emergency Expo drew approximately 2,000 people to the Caldwell Wal-Mart last weekend (May 22 and 23). The Expo helped kick off ITD’s “Click It, Don’t Risk It!” campaign to increase seat belt use, and raised awareness about safety issues and emergency resources in the community. The Expo was sponsored by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) Office of Highway Safety, Bud Fesler of Fesler Safety and Wal-Mart. “The Expo reminded people to buckle up, and focused on how seat belts can dramatically improve your safety – even save your life – if you’re in a car crash,” said Mary Hunter, ITD Office of Highway Safety.
Darlene Root, who can testify to the fact that seat belts save lives, also was on hand for the event. Through radio and television ads, Root shares the story of how she and her family walked away from a rollover crash because they wore seat belts. Cover photo: Phyllis Smith, Seat Belt Awareness For
