drivers rank 18 in insurance safety report
Drivers in Sioux Falls, S.D. this week toasted themselves with a goblet of free gasoline to celebrate their status as the safest drivers in America.
At least they were ranked No. 1 by Allstate Insurance Co.
Insurance
statistics released this week by Allstate indicate Sioux Falls clients
averaged 14.3 years between accidents, or 30.2 percent below the “relative
accident likelihood compared to National Average." For that distinction,
Allstate rewarded Sioux Falls drivers with free gasoline.
Boise drivers ranked a respectable 18th on the list of 200 major cities nationwide, logging 11.6 years between crashes, or 14.1 percent below the national average. Three other cities also recorded the same number of years between accidents. Considering their 2004 populations, their comparison to the national average ranged from 14.2 percent below to 13.6 percent.
Only two other cities in the western U.S. did better than Boise drivers – Ft. Colins, Colo., and Colorado Springs, Colo.
Drivers in Newark, N.J. reportedly were involved in crashes every five years, worst among those ranked.
What does that mean?

Drivers in Sioux City (and Boise) are less likely to be involved in a crash than the national average

They will experience less vehicle damage and corresponding repair bills

May qualify for lower insurance rates

They are less likely to be injured or killed in an auto crash.
