Representatives from ITD were among the roasters who gathered to bid a light-hearted farewell to Steve Moreno on Jan. 27 at Eagle Hills Golf Club. Moreno formally retires today as administrator of the Idaho division of the Federal Highway Administration. During Moreno’s seven-year tenure as head of the Idaho division, ITD and FHWA enjoyed a strong partnership that was committed to improve Idaho highways. “We’ve had a great working relationship,” said ITD Director Pam Lowe. “I really appreciate Steve’s leadership and his approach to solving transportation challenges. We all wish him the best in retirement.” ITD presented the departing administrator with a cartoon sketch created by Paul Hart of Highway Operations and a reflective sign showing Moreno the road to retirement, created by ITD’s sign shop. Moreno became the Idaho division administrator in 2000 after transferring from Juneau, Alaska, where he held the same title. He retires after 34 years with the federal agency. He was an area engineer in safety/traffic operations in Boise from 1990 to 1995. Before moving to Nebraska Hartman was an operations team leader in the Illinois division for four years and spent three years at the FHWA Headquarters. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri.
